Well, it’s been a few years since I was able to put pen to paper. Part of it has been running the publishing company, part of it has been some life changes. We are never the same people we were ten or even five years ago.
But … I got to meet some old friends and tell their stories. They waited patiently, almost as if they were frozen in time, and when I reached out, they started talking to me again, telling their tale.
Major David Kincaid, United States Army 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment–Delta, is tasked with prosecuting a war that has already been lost, in the face of incredible odds, undefeatable magic and a relentless enemy.
Father Michale Feradach, Jesuit priest and member of the Magia Exciderunti, sworn to fight the Fae for the last two thousand year and facing a crisis of faith in the absence of God.
Tenay of House Aedha, Captain of Scouts from a world of exile, come to Earth to seek allies in her people’s own war against the Fae and looking for a power that has been long lost from her own human ancestors.
Captain Shannon O’Neill, deep undercover for the Resistance as the leader of the NYPD Emergency Services Unit, living a life of servitude to House Tavor, the ruling Fae of New York City.
Harley Osmand, a human teenager who is trying to learn to control her wild magic talent; an ability that just might hold the key to defeating the Fae and driving them from Earth.
So yes, I met some old friends and some new ones. Which leaves me to some thoughts. I have a LOT of old friends who are waiting patiently to tell more stories. The colony on Alpha Prime and the men and women of the 9th Infantry Regiment. The crew of the USS Lexington, exploring the depths of the Reach for a new home for America. Captain Corel fighting demons on the seas aboard the Widowmaker. Major Iona Keely, who will find herself as a Gallowglass, adrift as a freelance mercenary in a universe where violence and money talks.
And, as always, Nick and Brit, cleaning their weapons while Ziv sharpens his knife, waiting for the next mission.
So get it while the getting is good, because there’s going to be a lot of Fae Wars coming your way.
